Evelyn Day Extreme Chocolate Makers Channel 4

Extreme chocolate maker

Hi – I’m Evelyn Day – I’m a chocolate architect located in the beautiful island of Jersey. I’ve been passionate about chocolate all my life and I’ve found a way to translate that passion into (incr)edible art!

You can read more about the history of Chocadyllic and how it has developed over the years on fetch.je – there’s a lovely article you can read here.

It was a joy and delight to be filmed and then featured on three episodes of Channel 4’s Extreme Chocolate Makers. You can see the showpieces I created during that time in the gallery below.

I was also filmed for a Channel 5 documentary called “The Wonderful World of Chocolate” for a commission for the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. You can watch me making it in Season3.Episode3.

A look behind the scenes

People often ask me how I started working in chocolate and how Chocadyllic started. This video asks those questions and more.

You can also see The Making of the Thai Shrine in Chocolate on my YouTube channel.

I’d love to know what you think, so please comment on the videos.

Frequently Asked Questions

People often want to know more about my chocolate creations. Pease don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any more questions. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

How much notice do you need?

Everything is handmade to order making each one unique. This takes time and means no two pieces are alike. Please take a look at the product information for how much notice an order will need. I usually post out orders once a week. Urgent requests can be accommodated for an additional charge.

How long do postal orders take?

Jersey post takes approximately 1-3 days. Unfortunately due to the new VAT laws in the UK Chocadyllic is no longer posting to the UK.

Do you deliver your chocolate sculptures?

Yes, chocolate sculptures are delivered for free in Jersey.

How much do you charge for your chocolate art?

My standard charges are £25 per hour or £250 per day. This includes all the materials and ingredients and is based on the expertise and knowledge I have gained over the last 10 years of working with chocolate.

Pieces can take anything from 2 hours to 5 or more days and depends on the design, size and number of elements.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’d be very happy to discuss your requirements.

How long do your sculptures take to make?

The amount of time it takes to make a chocolate showpiece depends on the size and design of the creation. The smaller and simpler pieces take around 2-3 hours whilst the large showpieces can take 5 days or more. The very large pieces can take 3-4 weeks. I can often work to clients’ budgets by tailoring the design, scale and complexity.

How long do your chocolate sculptures last?

I use the best possible Belgian couverture chocolate which has long best before dates. Dark chocolate can last for up to 18 months. One of my chocolate sculptures can keep for years if you want to keep it for show. You will need to keep it in the right conditions – away from sunlight and other heat sources. I can also provide beautiful clear acrylic covers for display purposes.

Ingredients

It is very important to me that what I create tastes as good as it looks. I use the best quality ingredients including local Jersey produce and high quality Belgian couverture chocolate. The dark chocolate is vegan. You can see the ingredients in each of the products listings. I also use biodegradable packaging wherever possible.

Allergies

Ingredients are listed for each product with allergens highlighted in bold. Before ordering, please discuss any concerns you have with regards to food allergies or intolerances.

I’d love to hear from you!
